Patient Care TechnicianThe Patient Care Technician works with the RN in providing effective care and treatment of the individual. Must be proficient in maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment. Performs nursing assistance as directed by the RN. Must observe and reports unusual behavior and intervenes with verbal and physical interventions as required within the guidelines of PMAB, to prevent injuries; and interacts with individuals to promote resolution of crisis.Examples of Work Performed:Observe and document the health and behavioral status of individuals and record changesTake and record vital signsMaintain accurate documentationImplement planned patient care programsPrepares and distributes materials for therapeutic activitiesWork cooperatively with othersEstablish and maintain successful working relationsExercise appropriate safety measures for self and individualsValidates current client Medication Administration Record (MAR) according to physician orders prior to administration of medications.Administers medications as ordered (within Texas-regulated CMA guidelines for scope of practice) by a physician and reports unusual symptoms and reactions to RN immediately.Routine monitoring of medication stock with timely report of needs to RN as needed.Experience and Training:Position requires graduation from an accredited high school or GED, plus one (1) year of work experience in a related field is preferred.College experience-Associates, Bachelor's, or master's degree preferred.Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA), PreferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of individual care and of customer service principles and practices.Skill in the operation of therapeutic equipment and other tools used in patient care and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software.Ability to plan, assess, and provide individual care; and to communicate effectively.Must possess good oral and written communication skills.Must have and maintain a level of general health, which permits the performance of job duties.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Hours: PRN, As Needed Salary: $19.00/Hour Certified Nurse Aide, Certified Medication Aide Positions: 696 803 801 804 802
